Puerto Rico will add three new casinos between 2028 and 2029

Puerto Rico's casino industry continues to consolidate its growth with the announcement of the opening of three new rooms in the coming years. The executive director of the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission, Juan Carlos Santaella, confirmed that the projects will be located in Ponce, Mayagüez and Carolina, while representatives of Aristocrat Gaming and Casino Metro highlighted the investments in new technologies and gaming experiences that accompany the expansion of the sector.

The Gaming Commission reported that the island will have 24 casino rooms between 2028 and 2029, with the incorporation of three new establishments that will be added to the 21 casinos currently authorized.

"The casino industry in recent years has been in constant growth. Casinos have become, in addition to game rooms, entertainment centers. It has been observed how the different casinos maintain activities for the enjoyment of all and that has been seen in the reported numbers," said Santaella.

The new rooms will be located in Ponce, Mayagüez and Carolina, where the reopening of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel casino will take place.

The game continues to generate a significant economic impact in Puerto Rico, contributing close to US$200 million to the local economy.

In addition to the growth in the number of establishments, the sector has evolved towards a comprehensive entertainment model, incorporating shows, gastronomy and new experiences to attract a broader audience.

Kelvin Lugo Cancel, executive of Aristocrat Gaming, announced the official launch of MONOPOLY Big Board Bucks in Puerto Rico, using Casino Metro as the venue to present the new product.

"For 10 years, Jackpot del Encanto has been successful and we have always focused the product with licenses that are premium from Aristocrat, so we could not miss the success that Monopolio has had since its launch," explained the executive. The company will invest US$1.5 million to install 62 machines distributed in 15 casinos in the country.

The new slots will be integrated into the Jackpot del Encanto progressive system, an exclusive Aristocrat network that over the last decade has awarded more than US$29 million in prizes. The title is the first developed under the multi-year licensing agreement between Aristocrat Gaming and Hasbro, with a grand prize starting at US$20,000.

Ismael Vega, general manager of Casino Metro, welcomed the establishment being chosen as the venue for the launch: "We are excited to introduce our visitors to one of the most iconic brands in the world as part of our ongoing commitment to offering innovative gaming experiences and first-class entertainment."

Vega pointed out that Casino Metro maintains a permanent process of technological renewal without losing sight of security and the promotion of responsible gaming, a regulatory environment that Aristocrat identifies as one of the main factors that favor new investments in the sector.
